Anti Dumping Of Chinese Shoes In Argentina

The Ministry of industry and tourism of Argentina announced the final anti-dumping measures against footwear originating in China to protect the shoe making industry.

According to the decision signed by de Vora George, Minister of industry and tourism of Argentina, from the 22 day of this month, the minimum reference price for all footwear products imported from China will be set, and the FOB price for each pair of shoes will be $13.38.

If the price of footwear imported from China to Argentina customs is lower than this standard, tariff will be levied according to the reference price.

The final anti-dumping measure is valid for 5 years, and orthopaedic shoes, skates and ski shoes originating in China are not within the scope of the measures.

According to the data released by the Argentina footwear industry association, in 2009, China exported 6 million 300 thousand pairs of footwear products to Argentina, with an export amount of US $75 million, and the volume and amount of exports dropped sharply compared with 2008.

According to a latest research report from the world bank, the number of trade restrictive measures such as countervailing, anti-dumping and special safeguard implemented in 2009 increased by 29.5% compared with 2008.

Before and after the Spring Festival this year, the United States, the European Union and Argentina have launched trade relief surveys on drilling pipes, coated paper and clothing products in China.

Faced with trade friction, the Chinese government has always stressed that it should oppose trade protectionism and promote world economic recovery, especially against trade abuses in developed countries such as the United States and Europe.

At the same time, the Chinese side also talked about resolving conflicts and disputes with some developing countries by adjusting and taking care of each other's interests and concerns.

The government of Argentina has adopted a series of restrictive measures on China's imports since the end of 2008.

The latest statistical report of Argentina's National Bureau of statistics shows that bilateral trade between China and Argentina amounted to 8 billion 829 million US dollars in 2009, a decrease of 35.8% compared with 2008.
