Legal Rights Protection: Beijing Cotton Field Textile Co., Ltd. Sued Japan Muji Goods And Got 400000 Compensation

Recently, we learned from the trial information network of Beijing court that the legal documents of first instance on the disputes of commercial defamation between Beijing cotton field Textile Co., Ltd., MUJI liangpin (Shanghai) Commercial Co., Ltd., and Ryoko project of Co., Ltd. were published. The trial court is the people's Court of Chaoyang District, Beijing.

According to the documents, the plaintiff, Miantian company, claimed that the two defendants, including the Ryuko project, fabricated and spread false information about the company's "rush to register" its "Muji" trademark, resulting in the relevant public mistaking cotton field company's "Muji" towel, quilt and other goods as fake goods, causing losses to cotton field company, and its behavior constituted Commercial slander.

The court held that the public statements issued by the two defendants, such as the Ryoko project, objectively violated the facts, thus actually derogating from the goodwill of cotton field company. The plaintiff claims that the defendant constitutes commercial defamation, which has factual and legal basis. The final judgment result is that the defendant Co., Ltd. and Muji (Shanghai) Commercial Co., Ltd. jointly compensate the plaintiff Beijing Miantian Textile Co., Ltd. for the economic losses and the expenses for preventing infringement, totaling 400000 yuan.
